The music will be furnished by Jimmy Powell and his Navy Sea-Cats. This everut holds unusual attraction for two reasons in par- Eastern Road Trip }?ails "No Support" Seven of the U. of L.'s more civic- minded students were greatly shocked thi past Tuesday when Sec Johnston, Pre ident of the All-Campu Council, announced that there would be no Road Trip to Richmond fer the Eastern Game. P lans and preparations had been completed, and the departure was scheduled for 2:30 W dnesday. However, there were only seven students who had made reservations by Monday evening, so the ACC decided that it would be best to call the whole thing off. In his remarks over the PA syst em in the Center, Sec reminded the group gathered there that this move did n ot mean thai we were not behind the team as they go on thi~ trip. He added that we must keep behind the Sea-CaTds, and give them a big send-off with our earnest best wishes for a big score. The committee in charge of these ventures announced that there will be no further attempts at trips this term. Whether such activities will be attempted next year will depend upon the amount of interest displayed in the future. Ensigns To Celebrate On Thursday evening, from seven until two, February 21st, the twenlty-six Ensigns-to-be will h o l d a finaJl celebration at "Bitzner's". They will be accompanied by the seventh term navy men wlho expect to be in .the same pcsition four months !hence. Lt. (j.g.) Wittcamp, First Class Advisor is sponsoring the function. The Firstclassmen on the conunittee for the cLinner-dan-ce are William Hoofstetter, James Brents Hill Jr., and T. King McCubbin. All plans have been completed and the party will include dinner, and dancing to the music of Jim Powell and His selected !-ew. Dr. Kutak read his report on "Why examina-tions cannot be discarded after use." He discussed the sho rtage · of help, lack of time, and difficulties of devising a valid test. Nationally Known Miss 0Stoorne lis nationally known for her inspiring lectures on beauty culture. Reports from previous engagements at other schools say that her talks and demonstrations were extremely interesting, and more important, they report a lasting effect on feminine appearance. Miss Threlkeld's office explained that these visits are c nly granted to a few schools throughout the country, -and stPongly encourages all University women to attend. Veterans Elect New Officers At the regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in Gardiner 105, the Vetenans' Organization elected its officers :£or the coming year. The v.oting was close .all the way, causing 1Jhe results to be of even · greater interest. Funston Elected Head The President for the new ,term is Gill Funston; and Russell LotJt is Vice President. Leland Taylor gave a weak presentation of the plans concerning Vets in this Louisville area. Taylor stressed nothing definite in possibilities for housings. He did lay out his plan for a housing conversion of the barracks at Bowman Field, which is to be similar to the set up at Charlestown. The mayor admitted !feeling humble as it was his job now to fight for the men who had fought for him. He stated that he was being restricted by the republican alderman. As an ending to his speech he left himself open for questions which he attempted to answer. The attendance was ninety-six. Dean Oppenheimer introduced Mayor Taylor, preceded by the most eloquent speaker of -the night, Frank Dowell. Frank, after a great build up, ·presented T. G. Justice with a little book for data.
