SAC presents 4 Seasons Concert to cap Marshall game The Seasons' season The Student Activities Committee is sponsoring the Four Seasons, nationaUy known recording group. The concert, to be held after the Marshall football game tomorrow night, is the second in a series of "big names" to appear at U L. It all started with "Sherry" about five years ago. Now, twenty- odd hits later, the Four Seasons will perform in Louisville tomorrow night, Oct. 21, after the University of Louisville-Marshall game. The two-hour concert will begin at 10:30 p.m. in the Coliseum and is being sponsored by the Student Activities Committee. The nationally known singing group will also witness the announcement of the WKLO radio high school School Spirit Award. The announcement will be made at half-time of the game, the award presented at the concert. Disc jockey Bill Bailey will emcee the event. Tickets for UL students are $3.00 a couple or $2.00 per person and will be on sale in front of the SUB until 1:00 p .m. today. They may also be purchased at the door. UL students will have priority in the seating arrangement as all will be on the floor in front of the Four Seasons. Al Rittle ('68) is the student chairman in charge of the Four Seasons concert for the SAC. Next on the list of social functions sponsored by the SAC is the Homecoming Dance featuring Count Basie and has dance band. Tickets for the dance will go on sale Monday in the UC Building and will be $5 a couple. Dec. 1 is the date of the Thoroughbred Dance, another bigname event with Sy Zentner and his orchestra. It will be held in the Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel. The Four Seasons, who are from New Jersey, were organized seven years ago. Since then they have recorded eighteen albums. Some of their most popular recordings are "Walk Like a Man," "Candy Girl," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Come On Mary Ann," "Workin' My Way Back to You Babe," "Rag Doll," and "Dawn." The members of the group are Bob Gaudio on the organ, Frankie Valli, lead singer; Joe Long, electric base; and Tom DeVito, lead guitar. On the ballot will be the races for Freshman President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, President and Vice-President in the three upper classes, and an at-large race for Student Council voting member. Also a referendum on preregistration will be included, and all students are urged to vote on that. Freshmen have 10 candidates for President, nine candidates for Vice-President, five candidates for Secretary, and 12 candidates for Treasurer to choose from in the biggest response to Freshman elections in recent times. In the other races the candidates are: Sophomore President-Nick De Martino and John Iacuone. Sophomore Vice-President - Lynn Fox and Dace Tupuritis. Junior President-Judie Stone and Larry Weisenthal. Junior Vice-President- Howard F. Robbins and Daryl W. Samples. Senior P r e s i d e n t-Gregory G€offrey and Don Zeller. Senior Vice-President-Libbye Simon and Louise Spragens. On the Homecoming Queen Court are: Lani Dawson, Annette Gohmann, Susan Parish, Betty Rinehart, and Sharon Utley. Monday these candidates will be presented to the varsity football team who will later select by ballot the 1967 Queen. The winner will be announced at a bon-fire pep rally next Friday night, Homecoming eve. The Queen will be crowned at the Saturday afternoon football game. Lambda Chi Alpha's entrant, Miss Dawson is a member of Chi Omega sorority and is Lambda Chi's Crescent GirL Miss Gohmann, representing Nu Sigma Chi fraternity, is a varsity cheerleader and member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the Arts & Sciences Student Council. Miss Susan Parish is the candidate of Threlkeld Hall dormitory. A member of Women's Intramurals and Angel Flight, she works as a donnitory counselor. Representing Chi Omega Sorority, Miss Betty Rinehart is a member of Young Republicans and Pi Gamma Omicron, a women's service organization. Miss Sharon Utley, an independent, is the candidate of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. October 20, 196'7 United Appeal sets for goal caiDpa•• gn By Cass Harris Can University of Louisville students line dimes up from the University Center to the Administration Building? This is the challenge put to the student body by the United Appeal Campaign Student Committee. This Mile of Dimes Campaign, which is the committee's main project in an effort to reach its goal of $1,200, will be held Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 23- 25, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The Mile of Dimes Campaign will be staffed by members of service groups and by members of the student committee. Dick Rahmel ('67) is the head of the Student UAC Committee. Letters from the committee were presented .to the fraternities and sororities Wednesday night asking for 100 per cent support of the campaign. Also Wednesday night, a mixer was sponsored by the Student Activities Committee and featured the Soul Merchants. Pi Gamma Omicron women's service organization collected at half-time during the UL-Dayton game, and they will again collect during the UL-Marshall game Saturday night. PGO is also sponsoring a contest to choose the most eligible bachelor and girl on campus. Voting will be outside the SUB. To the sorority and fraternity who contribute the most to the UAC fund on a per capita basis, Dean of Women Doris Stokes, Assistant Dean of Women Patsy Al-lison, and A&S Assistant Dean Ray Muston will give two hours each of pledge duty. Other· members of the Student Committee are Ernie Allen, Barbara Baumann, Jim Gilmore, Nancy Hayhurst, Pat Kimberlin, Lynda Lane, Donna Mayo, Judie Stone, and Linda Wa1baum.
