Description | MORNING STAR, a side-wheel packet with wood hull (225 ft. x 38 ft. x 6 ft.), was built at Howard in 1901. Owned by Louisville & Evansville Packet Co., MORNING STAR operated on the Ohio River between Louisville and Evansville until 1910 when she was sold and moved to the Davenport, Iowa area. MORNING STAR was sold again in 1918 to the Coney Island Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was lost, along with the ISLAND QUEEN, TACOMA and CHRIS GREEN, in a fire at Cincinnati on November 4, 1922. |
