| Description | ANDREW CHRISTY, a side-wheel ferry with steel hull (170 ft. x 48 ft. x 7.4 ft.), was built at Howard in 1897. Owned by Wiggins Ferry Company in St. Louis, the ferry operated in the St. Louis area initially and, after being sold to Falls City Ferry & Transportation Company in 1924, the Louisville area. Renamed HENRY WATTERSON (Way #2609), she served as a ferry between Jeffersonville and Louisville, and then a wharf-boat before being converted into a barge to haul beer between Evansville and Memphis. |
