| Description | CITY OF MEMPHIS, a stern-wheel packet with wood hull (200 ft. x 36 ft. x 6 ft.), was built at Howard Shipyard in 1898. Owned by St. Louis & Tennessee River Packet Co., she operated on the Mississippi River between St. Louis and Memphis initially, and later on the Tennessee River. CITY OF MEMPHIS was sold and renamed S.B. DUNCAN (Way #4885) in 1910, and then burned at Vicksburg on January 21, 1912. |
