Description | WM. GARIG, a stern-wheel packet with wood hull (175 ft. x 35 ft. x 5.2 ft.), was built at Howard in 1904. Owned by Baton Rouge & Bayou Sara Packet Co., WM. GARIG operated on the lower Mississippi and Ouachita Rivers. In 1918, she was sold to the Eagle Packet Company, remodeled, renamed GOLDEN EAGLE (Way #2366), and moved to St. Louis. She ran trade there area until the mid 1930s when she was converted into a tourist boat. She was sold twice after World War II and then sank at Grand Tower, Illinois on May 17, 1947. |
