Description | HOMER SMITH, a stern-wheel excursion boat with wood hull (235 ft. x 40 ft. x 5.9 ft.), was built at Howard in 1914. Owned by Security Steamboat Co., HOMER SMITH operated on the Ohio River. Although she made two round trips between Pittsburgh and New Orleans, and operated briefly in the Louisville-Cincinnati area, she was mainly used for brief excursions trips in Pittsburgh area.. HOMER SMITH was sold to Pittsburgh Amusement Co. and renamed GREATER PITTSBURG (Way #2442) in 1928. She burned at Pittsburgh in April, 1931. |
