Littell’s Statute Law of Kentucky, published from 1809-1819, has the first critically edited compilation of Kentucky statutes. It has long been recognized by lawyers as one of the founding documents of state law and by historians of early Kentucky as an indispensible primary source for the understanding of everything from the founding of cities and towns, to the regulation of marriage on the early Western frontier. This document can be viewed via the links in the navigation tabs. Scroll down to the bottom for access to a PDF file of the entire volume. Due to its large size, volume 1 was divided into two records: Volume 1, Section 1 and Volume 1, Section 2. The bottom link of Section 2 provides access to a PDF file of Volume 1 in its entirety. The intellectual content of the law books digitized in this collection may have passed into public domain but the specific digital files are the property of the University of Louisville School of Law and are not to be republished for commercial profit.
