TO HOLD THIRD STATE INTER-RACIAL CONFERENCE HERE Governor Edwin P. Morrow, Chairman ex-officio of the Kentucky Inter-racial Commission will preside at the first session of the Third State Inter-racial Conference to be held in Louisville, December 15-16, and will make the opening address. Mr. P.C. Dix, State YMCA director and acting Chairman of the Kentucky Inter-racial Commission will address the conference on "Race Relations", in the light of his observation and experience on his recent tour of European countries. The theme of the conference will be "Some Kentucky Problems Requiring Inter-racial Cooperation in Their Solution". Among these problems may be mentioned "The Problem of Negro Education", "Contribution of the Press to right Race Relations", "The Importance of the Introduction in Kentucky Colleges of Courses on Race Relations", "How Can the Living Conditions of the Negro Population be improved?", "Woman's Part in the Improvement of Race Relations", "Uneven Handed Justice in the Courts" and "How Can the White and Colored People of Kentucky Cooperate in reducing Crime and in Securing Proper Punishment of Criminals Where Both Races Are Involved?" These subjects will be discussed by representative Kentuckians, white and colored, noted for their ability as speakers and well able to handle the subject upon which they speak. Dr. W.W. Alexander, Atlanta, Ga., Director of the Inter-Racial Commission, Dr. George E. Haynes, Secretary of the Race Commission of the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America, and Dr. I. Garland Penn, Cincinnati, Secretary of the Educational Board of the Methodist Episcopal Church, will be among the speakers from abroad. Dr. James Bond, Director of the Inter-racial Commission for Kentucky will make a report of the work accomplished since the last meeting of the conference. It is hoped that churches, women's clubs and civic organizations in the city and throughout the state will appoint delegates to attend the conference, carrying back to these organizations full reports of the discussions and findings of the conference. Dr. Geo. Colvin, Superintendent of Public Instruction, has been invited by the Executive Committee of the Inter-racial Commission to speak upon the subject, "Problems of Negro Schools", Dr. C.W. Gardner of the Southern baptist Theological Seminary will speak on "The Importance of the Introduction in Kentucky Colleges of Courses on Race Relations." TO HOLD THIRD STATE INTER-RACIAL CONFERENCE HERE
Governor Edwin P. Morrow, Chairman ex-officio of the Kentucky Inter-racial Commission will preside at the first session of the Third State Inter-racial Conference to be held in Louisville, December 15-16, and will make the opening address. Mr. P.C. Dix, State YMCA director and acting Chairman of the Kentucky Inter-racial Commission will address the conference on "Race Relations", in the light of his observation and experience on his recent tour of European countries. The theme of the conference will be "Some Kentucky Problems Requiring Inter-racial Cooperation in Their Solution". Among these problems may be mentioned "The Problem of Negro Education", "Contribution of the Press to right Race Relations", "The Importance of the Introduction in Kentucky Colleges of Courses on Race Relations", "How Can the Living Conditions of the Negro Population be improved?", "Woman's Part in the Improvement of Race Relations", "Uneven Handed Justice in the Courts" and "How Can the White and Colored People of Kentucky Cooperate in reducing Crime and in Securing Proper Punishment of Criminals Where Both Races Are Involved?" These subjects will be discussed by representative Kentuckians, white and colored, noted for their ability as speakers and well able to handle the subject upon which they speak.
Dr. W.W. Alexander, Atlanta, Ga., Director of the Inter-Racial Commission, Dr. George E. Haynes, Secretary of the Race Commission of the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America, and Dr. I. Garland Penn, Cincinnati, Secretary of the Educational Board of the Methodist Episcopal Church, will be among the speakers from abroad.
Dr. James Bond, Director of the Inter-racial Commission for Kentucky will make a report of the work accomplished since the last meeting of the conference.
It is hoped that churches, women's clubs and civic organizations in the city and throughout the state will appoint delegates to attend the conference, carrying back to these organizations full reports of the discussions and findings of the conference.
Dr. Geo. Colvin, Superintendent of Public Instruction, has been invited by the Executive Committee of the Inter-racial Commission to speak upon the subject, "Problems of Negro Schools", Dr. C.W. Gardner of the Southern baptist Theological Seminary will speak on "The Importance of the Introduction in Kentucky Colleges of Courses on Race Relations."
