Description	Congressman Romano L. (Ron) Mazzoli, interviewed by Kevin Collins on May 20, 2010 as part of the Romano L. Mazzoli oral history project. This is the second of 17 interviews conducted with the Congressman, who represented the Third District of Kentucky from 1971 to 1995. In this interview, Congressman Mazzoli discusses his entry into politics, and the influence of John F. Kennedy's example on that decision. He describes his campaign for the Kentucky State Senate in 1967, including the Democratic Party primary contest, and Helen and Richard Mazzoli's roles. He compares the compaigning styles of Wendell Ford and Henry Ward. He also discusses his time in Frankfort: the people he worked with, and the issues and challenges he faced. He finishes by talking about his decision in 1968 to run for mayor of Louisville.
