Title	Hook used to destroy railroad iron.
Creator	Moliter, E. (lithographer)
Description	E. Moliter, noted Civil War lithographer, drew this image of the hook used by Sherman's Army on the March to the Sea (1864) and Campaign of the Carolina's (1865), for twisting and destroying railroad iron. Many of Moliter's illustrations were drawn circa 1863-1865. The rails were heated with bonfires and twisted to destruction with the hooks. In Sherman's memoirs he attributes the design of this hook to Colonel Poe. On the verso is handwritten in pencil: "Return to General O. M Poe - 34 West Congress St., Detroit, Mich."
