Description	William Lindsay was born 1835 in Virginia. He settled in Clinton in Hickman County, Kentucky, in 1854, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Clinton in 1858. Served as judge of the Kentucky Court of Appeals 1870-1878 and as chief justice of the court in 1876-1878. In 1893 he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he served until 1901. He died in Frankfort, Kentucky, in 1909.
