Description
Portrait of producer Tommaso (or Tomasso) Salvini , who was born in Italy in 1829 and died in 1916 . He is balding , but has a handlebar mustache , and wears a suit jacket and tie with stickpin . He first appeared at Macauley's Theatre with "The Gladiator " (possibly a version of "Spartacus) and "Ingomar " on March 11-12 , 1881 , and was also billed (with Alexander Salvini and Viola Allen) in "The Outlaw " "Romeo and Juliet " and "Othello " on March 19-20 , 1886 . Location of photo studio : New York (N.Y.)
