Woodblock prints of, from top to bottom starting at left : two uniformed military officers and one young man by bivouac ; servant clears dishes from table where man and boy share "Louisville Journal " newspaper ; man holds up page in book to show other men sitting and standing in what appears to be a general store ; two men , one thin and one fat , flanking portrait of Cervantes ; people and mules stop in clearing surrounded by trees with hammocks ; Grim Reaper (robe-clad skeleton with sickle) ; boy throwing pebbles in water ; man playing fiddle on top of doghouse , with ten dogs as audience ; Admiral , sailor , and other men on deck of ship , with sailor preparing to ignite cannon , signed "Dallas. " and "Lossing-Barritt "; man looking at full moon over water ; man offering apples to woman at outdoor campsite , signed "Strother "; angel , possibly St . Peter (bearded man wear robes and wings , holding a sickle and posed next to an hourglass) ; man climbing rungs of ladder ; seated woman reading letter ; young man seated outdoors , with sailboat on water in background ; man losing hat while running ; Justice (robed woman with blindfold holding scales and sword) ; number 8 ; man reading , woman holding baby , and boy and girl inside leaf ; family (man , woman , two boys , girl with book , and small child) seated at candlelit table ; ducks and ducklings in air and on water .
