The town of Lancaster , Ky . is to the right of the photograph and Harrodsburg , Ky . is to the left . Herrington Lake is a man made lake located in Mercer , Boyle , and Garrard counties , Kentucky . Created in 1925 by Kentucky Utilities after damming of the Dix River in order to generate hydroelectric power .
