. The
1937
flood
was
one
of
Louisville's
greatest
natural
disasters
. This
photo
shows
police
and
Kentucky
State
Health
officials
in a
room
at the
Louisville
Hotel
where
they had
set
up
temporary
headquarters
. A
Western
Union
messenger
hands
a
stack
of
messages
to a
man
in a
cap
. The
man
sits
at a
table
set
with
plates
and
cups
,
salt
and
pepper
and a
loaf
of
Honey
Krust
bread
. A
woman
stands
by the
table
offering
him
something
from a
frying
pan
. A
young
man
in
uniform
pours
himself
a
