YMHA , Second and Jacob Streets , model community center . The front and right side of the building are shown--brick with white horizontal , diagonal , vertical , and diamond accents , more detail on the front including , over the door , an ornate hanging roof . The Young Men's Hebrew Association was founded in the late 1800s , with location in cities such as New York , Philadelphia , and Baltimore , as a social and community center . The YMHA in Louisville was founded in 1890 as the Jewish Young Men's Association . In the 1950s , it became the Jewish Community Center .
