Title	Arts Club Louisville.
Creator	Hewett, Ainslie, 1880-1963 (bookplate designer)
Description	Decorative shield featuring a pegasus, a palette with paint brushes, the drama masks for comedy (Thalia) and tragedy (Melpomene), and a pan flute or panpipe. Black ink with orange highlights. A scroll near the top of the shield has the text "The Arts Club." A smaller scroll says "Louisville." The words "Presented by" are in the framed space between the palette and panpipe. The Arts Club of Louisville was founded in 1920 to support art in all forms. By January 1921, there were 273 members. Charter members included Cale Young Rice, Alice Hegan Rice, Mrs. J.B. Speed (Hattie Bishop Speed), and Mrs. Morris Belknap. Other members included Frederic Cowles, Ainslie Hewett, Eleanor Mercein Kelly, Norman Kohlhepp, Boyd Martin, Frederic L. Morgan, and W. K. Stewart. The first headquarters for the Arts Club was located at 314 West Chestnut Street in Louisville, Kentucky. Brown ink. Signed Ainslie Hewett with four-digit year.
