Description |
Stern and port side of stern-wheeler TALLULAH, at the bank of the Ohio River at Howard Shipyard. TALLULAH, a stern-wheel towboat with steel hull (127.5 ft. x 23 ft. x 4.5 ft.), was built by Howard in 1922. Owned by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Vicksburg district, TALLULAH operated on the Mississippi River. She was sold to Patton-Tully Transportation Company in Memphis, converted to a twin prop diesel towboat by Commercial Barge Lines at St. Louis Ship, and renamed WALTER F. CAREY in 1943. |
