Title |
Dredge launch, Howard Shipyard, circa 1902. |
Creator |
Howard, James E., 1875-1956 (photographer) |
Description |
Steel dredge creates a big splash as it is launched onto the Ohio River at Howard Shipyard in Port Fulton (now Jeffersonville), Indiana. Just up river from the launch is a steamboat which is either under construction or being repaired, as it is missing its paddlewheel. It may be the stern wheel packet ELECTRA, which was built at Howard in 1897. A U.S. Lifesaving Station, which was built for the city of Louisville in 1902, is in the foreground. |
