Description |
Port side of JOSIE, complete, and Z.M. SHERLEY at the bank of Ohio River at Howard Shipyard. JOSIE, a propeller ferry built in 1891, had the first steel hull (95 ft. x 25 ft. x 9 ft.) ever built at Howard. Owned by Algiers Public Service Co., Inc., JOSIE operated in New Orleans at Canal Street initially, and later in the Belle Chase area. |
