Description |
PARGOUD, loaded with bales of cotton, at the bank of a river, probably near Baton Rouge. PARGOUD, a side-wheel packet with wood hull (242 ft. x 43 ft. x 7.6 ft.), was built in 1884 at Howard Ship Yards and Dock Company in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Owned by Captain John W. Tobin, PARGOUD operated on the Mississippi River between St. Louis and New Orleans. On one trip in December, 1886, she delivered 5,662 bales of cotton and 546 sacks of seeds to New Orleans. PARGOUD sank on the lower Mississippi above the mouth of Red River in 1898. |
