Title	WPA folk music project: five men with instruments outdoors.
Creator	Thomas, Jean, 1881-1982 (collector)
Description	Five men sit in the yard playing musical instruments. Their coats and hats can be seen hanging on the picket fence in the background, and a few musical instruments are on the ground. A spinning wheel and broom are visible behind them. They are apparently involved in the Works Progress Administration's Federal Music Project, a New Deal relief program that employed citizens to create and document art and artists. These musicians (left to right) play: banjo (man wearing overalls with foot on chair); harmonica (held in hands of man looking off into distance); mountain dulcimer (played with quill by man in overalls, who may be Clark Gullett); guitar (man standing in back row); and fiddle (seated man in front row). One of the men may be named Archie Williams. Title supplied by cataloger.
