Title	Bell family Bible, with notes about Jean Thomas' parents.

Description	A family Bible propped open to a page of the book of Malachi, facing a page marked 'Family Record.' On the left-hand (Malachi) side is handwritten "Mrs. Kate L. Bell, our dearly beloved mother, passed away Dec. 31, 1925 at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Jan. 2, 1926 at 2:30 p.m. at the home. Dr. W.C. Condit conducted the services. He had married father & mother 51 years before. William George Bell our dearly beloved father passed away Oct. 23, 1917. Funeral Oct. 25, 1917 at the home. The services conducted by Rev. W.C. Condit. Bessie May Bell died after a tour of Europe nearly four days after reaching Ashland Sunday Sept. 4, 1927. Dr. Fred Smith Bell died Jan. 17, 1953 at his home Paris, Tennessee. He was buried in mausoleum in St. Louis, Mo. Dr. George Ingersoll Bell died March 23, 1953 Monday 6 A.M. in King's Daughters Hospital Ashland. Buried in Rose Hill Cemetery here. Sarah Bell Crawford ([Trixy?] Bell) died Aug. 6/53 at home. Buried in Ashland Cemetery Sunday Aug. 9 1953." On the right-hand (Family Record) side is handwritten: "George & Kate Bell were married Wednesday January 14, 1874 at Buena Vista [Terrace?] Boyd Co. Ky. by Rev. W.C. Condit. W. George Bell born near Maysville Mason Co. Ky. May 5 (Wednesday) 1838. Kate L. Smith born in Hocking Co. Ohio near Logan 14th Sept. 1847." Part of a series of photographs documenting personal belongings of Jean Thomas taken by University of Louisville Curator of Photography Donald R. Anderson in August 1968. Title supplied by cataloger.
