Description
Two women stand on the porch of the Alex Shively Grocery on Old Shepherdsville Road in the Newburg area of Louisville , Ky . The building is two stories with wooden siding . The first floor is recessed with an entrance and two windows . The second floor is partially supported by four columns . The second floor has windows on the front and side , some of which have closed shutters . A wooden fence extends from the side of the building . According to the journals of Warren Kellar Frederick , Alex Shively built the two story building during the Civil War . After her husband's death , Ms . Shively moved to Louisville in 1920 . Amos Yeager rented the building from Ms . Shively and ran a grocery , post office , and small feed store there. A fire started in the feed store section in January 1922 and destroyed the building . The two women standing on the porch may be Ms . Alex Shively and Katy Shively .
