Description
Adolphus E . Richards was born in Virginia in 1844 . His education was interrupted by the Civil War , he served in the Confederate Army , where he rose to the rank of major before his twenty-first birthday . At the war's end , he returned to school , attending the University of Virginia for two years , then completing his education at the University of Louisville . In 1868 , he was admitted to the bar , opening a practice in Louisville . In 1882 , he was elected for a four-year term on judge of the superior court . Richards did not seek re-election , and instead resumed his long practice as a successful member of the Louisville bar . He died in 1920 and is buried in Louisville's Cave Hill Cemetery .
