Description
William Henry Wadsworth was born in Maysville , Kentucky , on July 4 , 1821 . He was educated at the Maysville Seminary , becoming a lifelong friend of Ulysses S . Grant , After study in Augusta College , he read law in the office of Payne & Waller and was admitted to the bar . In 1853 he was elected to the state senate . In 1861 , he was elected as a Unionist to the U.S . Congress . He was re-elected in 1863 . During the period of reconstruction in the South he resumed the practice of law in Maysville Kentucky In 1884 , he was once again elected to Congress as a Republican . He died in Maysville in 1893 and was buried in the Maysville Cemetery .
