NEWS LETTER
LAW SCHOOL
University of Louisville
Number 10 February, 1946
There seems to be an end for all things--and so it is with the News Letter.
The purpose of the News Letter was to bring "News" concerning the men in the Armed
Forces and to keep you in touch with the Law School. Now that so many of you are
back in civilian life, it seems unnecessary. So with this issue, my work is finished•
I appreciated the many letters you all wrote me and I thoroughly enjoyed getting
out the "News" to you.
Our Law School is rapidly getting back on its feet. At the end of the
Summer Semester, 1945 we had 10 students. On October 29 1 1945 we had an enrollment
of 35 students. On January 2, 1946 our enrollment was 55 students. On March 25 1
1946-•the beginning of our Spring Quarter--we expect an enrollment of 85 students.
Of course# we are all highly elated that we are making such a quick come•back.
Dean Lott was the first of the faculty to return from the Service. The
Dean arrived in Louisville on October 27th and resumed his duties on October 29th.
Mr. King returned January 2nd and Mr. Dobie was discharged on February 4th.
It is wonderful to have so many of the Alumni back and it's a real joy to
see so many of the boys that didritt get to finish their Law School career returning
to our School.
I have recently learned that I did not have a complete record of all the
graduates from the Law School that were in the Service. I am therefore, enclosing
a que stionnaire that I wish you would fill out and return to me at once. I am rure .
you will want such a form to be on file at our Law School.
Cex· tainly, I do not have a complete record of the "whereabouts" of everyone--
but perhaps this last issue will bring you som e "News" that you dont t alrt;Jady
know. I am hoping that this News Letter will be taken over by the Law School Alumni
and may somehow become the medium of communication for an ACTIVE Alumni Association.
