Description
Full-length character portrait of actor Robert McWade in costume for the role of Simonides in "Ben Hur " which was produced at Macauley's Theater in March 1905 . He is seated on a wooden throne , wearing patterned robes with fringed ends . He points ominously with his right index finger . Robert McWade Jr . was born in Buffalo , New York on June 17 , 1872 and died on January 19 , 1938 in Culver City , California . He first performed at Macauley's Theatre in "Rip Van Winkle " "Rory O'More ", and "Richard III " (the latter in Dutch) on February 15-20 , 1875 . Inscription on print : For Col . Macauley - with best wishes for all times . Very sincerely yours Robt . McWade Jr . Location of photo studio : Milwaukee (Wis.)
