Description
Well-known and widely-reproduced photogravure of full-length character portrait of American actress Fanny Davenport in the role of Margaret Gauthier in "Camille. " She is leaning against a column , looking out onto the horizon with her left hand shading her eyes . She wears a long white dress . Born into a family of actors on April 10 , 1850 , Davenport was the leading lady of actor Robert B . Mantell , and appeared in seven productions at Macauley's Theatre between 1881 and 1898 , including her portrayal of "Camille " on February 11 , 1881 . She died September 26 , 1898 .
