Description	Three-quarter length character portrait of Christie McDonald Jefferson seated, wearing an oversize hat and elaborate off-the-shoulder dress. An equally elaborate cape is draped behind her on the chair. Canadian actress Christie McDonald was born February 28, 1875 in Nova Scotia. She appeared at Macauley's Theatre opposite Frank Daniels in "Hook of Holland" in March 1890; in "The Rounders" in January 1900, billed under her maiden name; and in "The Spring Maid" in November 1912. She was married to William W. Jefferson at the time of this photograph, and later married Henry L. Gillespie. She died in Fairfield, Connecticut on July 25, 1962. Inscription on print, lower left: To Col. Macauley - Very sincerely yours, Christie Macdonald Jefferson. Location of photo studio: Boston (Mass.). Title supplied by cataloger.
