Title	Augustus Cook as Napoleon Bonaparte, 1896.

Description	Full-length character portrait of actor Augustus Cook seated in a throne-like chair, with his feet on a cushion. He is wearing an early nineteenth century military uniform and a hairstyle very similar to that of Napoleon Bonaparte. He is likely in costume for a role as Napoleon Bonaparte, whom he played in the 1896 production of "Madame Sans Gene" in which he appeared at Macauley's Theatre. Inscription on print, lower right: John T. Macauley, Esq., With kindest regards, best-wishes from his friend, Augustus Cook Xmas 1896. Location of photo studio: New York (N.Y.). Title supplied by cataloger.
