Full-length character portrait of comedic actress and producer Annie Pixley . She stands in front of a tree , wearing a bonnet , dress , and striped apron . Pixley starred in three productions at Macauley's Theatre , in February 1884 , March 1886 , and March 1887 . She also performed in "Rip Van Winkle " with Joseph Jefferson III , who brought that play to Macauley's fourteen times between 1880 and 1903 . Annotation on mount verso : 1722 Annie Pixley .
