Title	Julia Marlowe, circa 1891.

Description	Three-quarter length character portrait of left profile of Julia Marlowe, wearing a white robe. Julia Marlowe was a child actress born Sarah Frances Frost on August 17, 1865 in England. She spent her late childhood in the United States, and married actor Robert Taber, with whom she co-starred in these December 1891 performances at Macauley's Theatre, in 1894. With her second husband, E. H. Sothern, whom she married in 1904, Julia Marlowe ran the Sothern & Marlowe Repertory company. She performed in over fifty productions at Macauley's Theatre from 1889 to 1913, specializing in Shakespeare and other tragic and romantic roles. Her December 1891 visit included performances of "Much Ado About Nothing" "Twelfth Night" "Cymbeline" and "Ingomar." Marlowe also went by the stage name Fanny Brough. She retired from the stage in 1924, and died November 12, 1950, in New York City. Inscription on print, lower center: For Mary - with love - Julia Marlowe. December 1891.
