Born in Rochester , New York , in either 1856 or 1857 , Evans performed with William Hoey , and the two men married twin sisters Minnie and Helena French , respectively . Charles E . Evans performed at Macauley's Theatre at least four times between September 1885 and March 1893 . He died April 16 , 1945 in Santa Monica , California . Inscription on print , lower center : Yours truly Chas . E . Evans . Location of photo studio : Chicago (Ill.) . Title supplied by cataloger .
