Character portrait of actress Ada Rehan wearing a white bonnet and fur-lined coat or cape with medallions around her neck . Born Bridget Crehan , in Limerick , Ireland , on April 22 , 1857 , she died in New York City on January 8 , 1916 . Her first appearance at Macauley's Theatre was in Augustin Daly's "Under the Gaslight " in September 1875 , followed by "The Naiad Queen , or The Mystery of Lurlei Berg " in October 1875 ; "The Taming of the Shrew " in March 1896 and, in December 1903 - January 1904 , "The School for Scandal " "The Taming of the Shrew " and "The Merchant of Venice ". Location of photo studio : New York (N.Y.)
