Full-length character portrait of actress Lillian Russell , possibly as Cleopatra . She stands before a backdrop of Egyptian hieroglyphics , wearing a long white dress with wide sleeves and a crown , and holding a feather fan above her head . Born Helen Louise Leonard in Clinton , Iowa ca. 1861 , she took the stage name Lillian Russell , and starred in eight productions at Macauley's Theatre between February 1895 and October 1910 . She died June 6 , 1922 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . Inscription on print , lower right : Very truly , Lillian Russell . Location of photo studio : New York (N.Y.)
