Description	Portrait of actor, director, and lyricist Richard F. Carroll (also known as R. F. Carroll) wearing a tuxedo jacket with white bow tie. Carroll, born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 27, 1865, starred in three productions at Macauley's Theatre: "The Rounders" (January 1900); "The Maid and the Mummy" (January 1905), likely the occasion of this portrait's inscription; and "The Serio-Comic" (January 1906). He died June 26, 1925 in New York City. Inscription on print, lower center: To my "uncle" John Macauley with fond remembrance of Louisville. Richard F. Carroll 1905. Location of photo studio: New York (N.Y.). Title supplied by cataloger.
