Three-quarter length character portrait of mustachioed stage and screen actor Herbert Kelcey , seated with hands in trouser pockets , wearing suit jacket with pocket square , polka-dot bow tie , bowler hat , and holding a cane behind his back . Herbert Kelcey was born October 10 , 1855 in London , England ; married fellow actor Effie Shannon , originally of Massachusetts ; and died July 10 , 1917 in Bayport , New York . Kelcey and Shannon co-starred in eight productions at Macauley's Theatre between December 1897 and February 1910 . Kelcey also performed at Macauley's Theatre with Charles and Rose Coghlan in "Diplomacy " and "Lady Bartar " in October 1893 . Location of photo studio : New York (N.Y.)
