Description	Portrait of Charles F. Brown, with gray hair parted in the middle, wearing a suit jacket and bow tie. His reference to "The Honey Boys" may indicate that he managed the George Evans and his "Honey Boy" Minstrels, which performed at Macauley's Theatre six times between 1910 and 1922. The date of the inscription, October 7, 1908, coincided with a performance by the George M. Cohan and Sam H. Harris Minstrels, however, not "The Honey Boys." Brown's inscription from "a new member" is likely a reference to the Chili Con Carne Club, which was a men's poker group spearheaded by Macauley. Inscription on mount, lower left: To Col. John Macauley from a "new member" with high regards. Oct. 7, 1908. Chas. F. Brown, Mgr. "The Honey Boys". Location of photo studio: New York (N.Y.). Title supplied by cataloger.
