Description
Three-quarter length character portrait of actress Belle Gold in the role of Desdemona in the Vaudeville musical "The Ham Tree. " Gold , wearing a hat and dress , holds onto Rex (a black-and-white bull terrier) , who is perched on a pedestal . "The Ham Tree " was performed at Macauley's Theatre February 15-17 , 1906 , with James McIntyre as Alexander Hambletonian , Thomas K . Heath as Henry Jones , W . C . Fields as Sherlock Baffles , and Belle Gold as Desdemona ; and November 2-3 , 1906 and December 6-7 , 1907 , with at least McIntyre & Heath reprising their roles . Inscription on print : For Col McCauley , Cordially , Belle Gold 1906 with McIntyre and Heath "The Ham Tree ". Location of photo studio : New York (N.Y.)
