Title	Vokes Sisters.
Creator	Mora, b. 1849 (photographer)
Description	Group portrait of three Vokes sisters (Victoria, Rosina, and Jessie), who, with Fred and Fawdon Vokes, wrote and performed sketches as the Vokes Family. They are wearing striped dresses with pinafores and wide-brimmed hats. These costumes may indicate an association with one of their pieces, "The Belles of the Kitchen" which they performed along with "Cousin Joe" "Fun in a Fog" and "No. 1 Around the Corner" on September 19-24, 1881. Interestingly, their performance on Tuesday, September 20, 1881 was cancelled due to the death of U.S. President James A. Garfield, who had been shot on July 2 but lived until September 19. Location of photo studio: New York (N.Y.)
