Description
Three-quarter length character portrait of Sarah Truax in costume for a role in "The Two Orphans " which she performed at Macauley's Theatre in November 1904 . She is wearing a white brimless hat with black bow ; cape with tassels ; and dress with pinafore , and stands with her hands clasped together . She made three other appearances at Macauley's Theatre between 1907 and 1917 . Her inscription is apparently to New York City-based theatrical manager Richard Dorney . Inscription on print , lower center : For Mr . Richard Dorney With all good wishes and in sincere [illegible] of much courtesy from Sarah Truax . Annotation on print , lower center : With the All Star "Two Orphans. " Annotation on mount verso : Sarah Trual with the All Star Two Orphans at The Nixon , Week of Oct 17 . Location of photo studio : Boston (Mass.) . Title supplied by cataloger .
