Description
"Tea Time at 'Clovercroft" is inscribed in Kate Matthews ' handwriting on the verso of this print , but it may also be the photograph that Kate Matthews ' niece , Lillian Fletcher Brackett , referred to in a speech as "The Sisters at Tea. " The women enjoying tea on the lawn at Clovercroft appear to be Kate Matthews and her four sisters , Charlotta , Jessie , Florence and Lillian . One stands as she serves from a silver tea service arranged on a small table . Three sit in chairs and one sits on a animal skin rug on the ground . A guitar leans against Florence and at the center of the group is a stone statue of a pug dog . Handwritten in verso in Kate Matthews ' hand : "Tea time at 'Clovercroft" and, in a different hand , "Mrs . Charles Brackett ".
