Woodblock prints of, from left to right starting at top left (all images signed "Hartwell " unless otherwise noted) : "Abyssinia " [now Ethiopia/Eritrea] , with three people , stringed instrument , and spear and shield ; procession including people riding on elephant ; people , including woman carrying jug on head and man wearing turban , stand near shore while ships sail in; men with Confucian hats and mustaches bow before man on horseback (possibly Genghis Khan) ; number 15 ; "Cochin-Chinese " [now Vietnamese/Cambodian] men seated on ground wearing hats , not signed ; Asian man starts fire , observed by men wearing embroidered tunics ; "Hindoos " [Indian people] , some wearing turbans , not signed ; "Turks " wearing turbans ; "Malays " [Austronesian people] wearing turbans and harem pants and gesturing toward approaching ship ; faded image of horse-drawn chariot leading military procession - no visible signature ; "Japanese " including man wearing wide-brimmed hat and kimono ; person with ponytail holding lantern above woman , and three other figures in background ; "Armenians " men wearing hats ; "Burmese " people in robes ; "Chinese " people beside water , with ships and pagoda in background ; people bowing before man seated cross-legged on throne .
