Description
Female High School in downtown Louisville , Kentucky . Handwritten on bottom of mounted print : "R.G . Potter , Collection ; The Female High School west side of First St . north of Chestnut St . was completed in Aug . 1873 at a cost of $115 , 242.71 . Six hundred pupils could be accommodated . It had 16 large rooms plus a chapel and lecture room. " The high school moved in 1899 , changed its name to Louisville Girls High School in 1911 , and moved to what is now duPont Manual High School in 1934 , merging with that school in 1950 . This building was used for Male High School until 1915 , when the site was used for Ahren's Trade School . Title supplied by cataloger .
