Description
Because the kingdom of Denmark consists of 500 islands plus Jutland , the only part attached to the continent of Europe , ferries play an important part in its transportation system . There are 23 ferries operated by the Danish State Railway plus a number of private ones , some connecting islands within Denmark and others making trips to Sweden , Germany and England . One of the smallest ferries is the chain driven one between Egersun and Alno in South Jutland .
