Description
Campus of Morehead State Teachers College (now Morehead State University) , in Morehead , Kentucky . Twelve buildings are identified , and the view takes in the forested mountains in the background . Morehead State was called Morehead Normal School went it opened in 1887 , and became a state college in 1923 . In 1948 it changed its name to Morehead State College , and it was renamed again in 1966 , when it became a university . Printed text on verso reads : "Morehead , Kentucky , is on the C&O Railroad and the Midland Trail (US 60) , midway between Lexington and Ashland . Morehead State Teachers College has a setting of rare natural beauty . The modern Tudor-Gothic buildings follow a wide arc at the foot of a wooded mountain , their terraced lawns facing a broad boulevard which extends from Science Hall at one end of the campus to the level athletic field at the other . In the surrounding Cumberland National Forest the scenery is inspiring . The climate is mild and pleasant , with unusually cool summer nights. " Postmarked 1947 on verso .
