Navy Pier on Lake Michigan , Chicago , Illinois . The pier has a red bridge or stone entranceway with a sign reading "Navy Pier " at the top . There are two boats alongside the pier and a bus or trolley approaches the entrance . Text printed on verso reads , "Devoted to the docking of lake boats . There are three deck levels for freight and passenger traffic . The outer end contains a concert and dance hall , with a capacity of 4000 . Erected at a cost of nearly $4,000,000. " Postmarked 1937 . "Made expressly for Max Rigot Selling Agency " number 259 .
