Description |
Santa Fe Mission depot, a structure with Spanish-influenced architecture. Other buildings are visible nearby, and telegraph wires run between various buildings and the depot. There are people standing near the tracks and the station, and several carts and wagons are in view. Text printed on verso reads, "Albuquerque is a very ancient and interesting settlement, being on an elevation of 5,000 feet above sea level. The first explorers of this region were the Spaniards from Mexico. The city was founded by them in 1706. The territory is noted for its many curious and interesting missions which were inhabited by the missionaries in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries." Postage requirements date this card to before 1952. Number 95 in a series. |
